Caitlin’s Story
Having the means to travel to Orange regularly has given me the chance to play with the Orange City Rollers team and an invitation to join the State Performance Program (SPP) for Wheelchair Basketball.
This has meant meeting more people my age who are disabled and who understand that, when I’m having an arthritis flare, I can’t do as much. It also means that I have access to mentors and coaches to help me improve. I am using the Sportly training app to interact with them, even when I am back at home on the farm.
The financial support from the JIA Financial Support Program has enabled me to travel to all the training and games and I am very grateful for the assistance from The Arthritis Movement. Thank you.
All this keeps me motivated to stay active and healthy and I’m looking forward to continuing to play sports and interact with others this way.
Caitlin has been a regular and enthusiastic attendee of Camp Footloose, our five-day camp for teenagers with JIA.
