JIA Financial Support Program

Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) significantly impacts children’s lives, affecting their education, social interactions, and overall well-being. Up to 56% of children with JIA experience severe functional limitations, leading to developmental delays and emotional challenges, often missing out on opportunities available to their peers.

About the Financial Support Program

Our pilot program aims to enhance the long-term well-being of teenagers with JIA aged 15-18 years old by providing targeted financial support. This support is intended to enhance educational opportunities, facilitate social and emotional development, and prepare for future employment by addressing both immediate and long-term needs in these areas.

How It Works

  1. Application Process: Applications open from 18 July to 31 August. Students apply by detailing their specific needs and how funding will help them overcome barriers caused by JIA and achieve their goals.
  2. Review Process: Applications are reviewed by Arthritis NSW, with successful applicants notified in October.
  3. Funding Disbursement: Upon approval, families purchase necessary goods or services and submit proof of purchase for reimbursement.
  4. Follow up surveys are completed, and photographs submitted 3 months into the program
  5. Timeline: The program runs for 6 months, concluding in May.
